The Ben Moody Foundation

The Ben Moody Foundation The Ben Moody Foundation honors Ben’s legacy by educating the public on the benefits of skateboarding for positive mental and physical health.

We also provide resources for healing and support for survivors of su***de loss. The Ben Moody Foundation was established in June of 2023 by Ben’s family. Ben passed away by su***de in March of 2022 at the age of 17. Ben was a pillar of the skateboarding community in Eugene. Oregon, and was known for his goofy personality, his desire to always go big, and effortless skating style. He never hesitat

ed to cheer on a newcomer, or if you were trying to learn a new trick he was rooting for you. The one thing that was a constant source of stability, creativity, strength, and community for Ben was skateboarding. It meant everything to him. He often struggled with anxiety, and social situations, but he could go to any skatepark in any city and find a home there. We believe Ben’s life, and his death has taught us so much about taking care of each other. We know his light is still so big that it will continue to heal our community and beyond. Our Mission

From our Founding Secretary/Treasurer, Erin

“As a founding board member of The Ben Moody Foundation, so much of the work we do lives in heavy spaces.

We sit with grief. We support su***de loss survivors. We talk about the hard things—because they matter.

And then there are days like Saturday.

Ben’s Birthday at the skate park was filled with laughter, music, connection, and community. Watching people show up—kids, families, friends—skating, cheering each other on, sharing food, listening to music, and coming together to remember Ben was something special.

This photo captures how the day felt to me.
Getting to hand off a raffle basket, seeing the smiles, the energy, the lightness—it was joy. Real, present, shared joy.

And in the middle of work that can feel so heavy, that matters too.
That remembering someone can look like laughter.
That honoring a life can feel like community.
That there is room for this, too.”

Have fun for Ben 💚

Love,
Erin
