As the year comes to an end, let’s take a look at all of the accomplishments we’ve achieved as a club! 🤩👏

🤝 Doubled our average general meeting attendance (some weeks we ran out of seats)!

🏙️ Traveled to Seattle for our annual networking trip, where we met with Arup, Lumen Field/Seattle Seahawks, LevelTen Energy, Outdoor Research, Marilyn Johnson, and Kevin Wilhelm to learn how their businesses incorporate sustainability into their operations.

👕 Had record breaking attendance at our 8th annual SPRNG Conference: Designing Change, with guest speakers from LooptWorks, LooptFoundation, Outdoor Research, Fanatics, and ReformeU, where they discussed the fashion industry’s role in creating a more sustainable future.

📖 Created the first issue of our zine, Imprint, which was distributed at SPRNG Conference and still available digitally.

🔥 Launched the Hot Spots Project, aimed at creating a searchable database that identifies worker exposure to extreme heat risks, and presented the research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.

💡 Welcomed guest speakers from Patagonia and Green Environmental Management, where they shared their insights about the industry and what their jobs entail.

🌱 Got our hands dirty on Saturdays at Grove Garden work parties, which are hosted by the Student Sustainability Center to promote community, sustainability, and food security.

♻️ Started the Autzen Waste Management Project to encourage fans to recycle on the path to Autzen, which will be implemented this upcoming football season!

Thank you to all of our dedicated Net Impact members, UO faculty, Net Impact Graduate Chapter, guest speakers, and UO community for making this school year a success! We look forward to seeing you next year! 🙌

On Thursday, May 23rd, several members from our Hot Spots Project presented the group’s research at the University of Oregon’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.

The Hot Spots project, led by Joshua Skov, started in Fall 2023. The researchers aim to create a searchable database, by industry and geography, for identifying worker exposure to extreme heat risk in a wide range of corporate supply chains, along with action items for companies, policymakers, and civil society organizations.

Great job to all the members of the Hot Spots Project! 👏

🌱✨ SPRNG Conference 2024 ✨🌱

Last Thursday, May 9th, the University of Oregon Undergraduate Net Impact Chapter hosted our 8th annual Sustainable Practices Raising Net Growth (SPRNG) Conference and achieved record breaking attendance! 🌎👕

With the theme “Designing Change: Exploring the Intersection Between Sustainability, Fashion, and Innovation,” we explored the evolving landscape of sustainable fashion and its impact on our planet. It was inspiring to witness the convergence of ideas and solutions from our esteemed speakers and attendees.

🎤 A huge thank you to our phenomenal lineup of keynote speakers and panelists who shared their expertise and insights:

⭐️ Scott Welch, Executive Director@ Loopt Foundation
⭐️ Alyssa Augustine, Design Innovation@ Looptworks
⭐️ Alex Lauver, Senior Director of Materials, Innovation, & Sustainability @ Outdoor Research
⭐️Joleen Ong, Sustainability Director @ Fanatics
⭐️Timothy Parent, Founder of Reforme U

Throughout the conference, we delved into a variety of topics, from innovative textile advancements and the creative repurposing of materials to the critical importance of transparency in supply chains and the ethical responsibilities of industry players. Additionally, we underscored the important role of educating everyday citizens about the apparel industry

🙌 And of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication
of our members who tirelessly worked behind the scenes to ensure the success of the event.
From logistics to marketing, we are extremely grateful for your contributions.

To everyone who attended, engaged, and supported SPRNG Conference 2024, thank you for being part of our capstone event of the year and the journey towards a more sustainable and equitable world! 💚

Missed the conference or want to relive the highlights? Stay tuned for the recording!
