FACT Milk can do the exact opposite! As cats mature, they often lose the enzyme needed to break down milk. Even if they aren’t lactose intolerant, feeding them milk on a regular basis adds fats and sugars into their diet, causing an unbalanced diet and possibly obesity.

Is your feline a fatty? Besides this body condition score, you can determine your cat’s weight using the hand test. Catster advises to “feel your cat’s ribs (found behind their front legs). If their ribs feel like the back of your hand, they're a perfect weight. If their ribs resemble your knuckles, your cat is skinny. If their ribs feel like your palm, they’re potentially overweight.”
