Summer Reading Kits!

This spring we are helping to put books in the hands of some of our community kids in need this summer.

With the guidance of staff at our local elementary schools – Clinton, Deep River, Essex, and Old Saybrook – we will be able to provide books for 100 children, ages 6-11. Each child will receive a Summer Reading Kit – a backpack comprised of a book and a collection of related props, games or other activities designed to make reading interactive and enjoyable for both the child and the reader. These Literacy Kits help bring a book to life for a child and deepen the reading experience.

2023 Stocking Stuffing Project

Mission accomplished!! Representatives from Westbrook, Old Saybrook, and Tri-Town youth and family services agencies received over 100 stockings on Thursday, Dec. 14th.

As you see by the smiles on their faces, they were delighted when they saw the stockings. They loved the buffalo plaid and burlap and seemed to be genuinely impressed with our work.

So, Kudos to all who gave of their time, energy, and personal donations. The stuffing party was fun too!

The River Valley Fund for Families (RVFF), a Fund at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, is pleased to announce a $500 grant to Warm the Children Shoreline (WTC). The grant will be used to purchase new winter clothing and footwear for local children in need. Working with Youth and Family Services organizations, and in conjunction with Walmart in Old Saybrook, Warm the Children volunteer shoppers assist assigned families with the selection of warm and winter seasonal necessities. RVFF recently conducted the successful “Festival of Trees” fundraiser which helped fund the grant award.

The grant was awarded on December 14th and received by Beebe Miller, WTC Coordinator, who stated, “I am honored to accept this generous grant on behalf of Warm the Children Shoreline and want to thank everyone who contributed to the RVFF fundraiser, as well as the hundreds of people in our local communities who continue to support Warm the Children annually.”
