Have you ever used the Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission’s Complaint tool? It’s the primary mechanism for impacted residents to raise concerns about oil & gas operations in Colorado, but it’s a bit of a black hole. We're shining a light on the process with a real life example of how the process works, in the best case scenario.

"The community group Save The Aurora Reservoir, or STAR, is getting ready to make its final case to the ECMC on Tuesday opposing the Sunlight Long Well, which would be the nearest well to the Aurora Reservoir. But on Sunday, the group took time out from strategizing to take care of the reservoir they are fighting to protect."

The community group Save the Aurora Reservoir is getting ready to make its final case to oppose the Sunlight Long Well. But the group took time out of planning on Sunday to help clean up the reservoir.

🌎 Colorado Steps Up to Cut Methane ⚖️

Even as federal climate protections face new challenges, methane rules for oil and gas are still in place. That means states have the power and responsibility to act. 📊🏛️

Colorado is doing just that. The state passed new rules to reduce pollution from oil and gas facilities, including stronger requirements for leak detection and repairs. These steps help protect public health and cut harmful emissions. 💨🔎

This progress shows what’s possible, but more action is still needed to ensure polluters are held accountable and communities are protected. 🌍💚

This Valentine's Day, we're breaking up with fossil fuels. 💔⛽
It's not us, it's CO2. Oil and gas have been gas-lighting our future for too long, and frankly, this relationship is toxic. 🚩
So we're shooting our shot with renewables instead. 💘☀️🌬️
Will YOU be our Valentine and commit to clean energy? Here's what we're asking for:

Phase out fossil fuels and stop new fracking permits 🚫
Invest in solar, wind, and renewable infrastructure ☀️💨
Protect our air, water, and climate for future generations 💧🌍
Champion a just transition with good, local jobs ✊

Swipe through for punny (but serious) Valentine's messages, then TAG YOUR REPS and ask: ""Will you be our Valentine and commit to climate action?"" 💌

Thanks to for the inspiration!

"Using Colorado data, studies published since the adoption of the statewide setback show increased risk of certain health impacts up to 4000 feet and, for childhood leukemia, even at over 3 miles away from oil and gas development. Studies also show that health risks are exacerbated by cumulative exposures, especially as the Front Range continues to suffer from one of the worst ozone crises in the nation, fueled in part by oil and gas development."
