The Grand National Quail Club and Quail Foundation mourn the loss of Mr. John Groendyke, a devoted member, leader, conservationist, and friend whose impact on our organization and the quail hunting community will be felt for generations.

John joined the Grand National Quail Club in 1969 and quickly became an integral part of its legacy. He served as President of the Club in 1975 and was honored with induction into the Grand National Quail Club Hall of Fame in 1992 in recognition of his dedication and service.

For more than two decades, John served as both a Director and Advisory Member of the Grand National Quail Club Board, providing invaluable leadership, insight, and guidance. He began serving on the Quail Foundation Board early on and following the completion of his terms, continued to share his wisdom as an Advisory Member until his passing.

A respected rancher and passionate outdoorsman, John took great pride in hosting hunters each year during the Grand National Quail Hunt. He welcomed guests to his ranch with unmatched hospitality and worked tirelessly to ensure every hunter enjoyed a memorable experience afield. His love for bird hunting, the land, and the traditions of our sport was evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his contributions to the Club, John was a pillar of his community and the State of Oklahoma. His commitment to conservation was demonstrated through six terms of service as a Commissioner for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, where he played a significant role in preserving Oklahoma's natural resources and outdoor heritage.

John's insight, words of wisdom, generous spirit, and unwavering passion for hunting and conservation will be deeply missed. We are grateful for his many years of service and leadership.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Groendyke family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
