The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is mourning federal wildlife officer David Taylor, 38 of Scio, Oregon, who is believed to have died while helping evacuate residents threatened by the Railroad South Fire.

Officer Taylor was going door to door alongside local emergency crews helping families get to safety. His last contact with dispatch came while he was helping a family evacuate their home. Evidence recovered from a structure where he was working to help a resident escape indicates that he died during the evacuation effort. Formal identification remains pending with the medical examiner.

Everything we know about David's actions reflects extraordinary courage, selflessness and devotion to duty.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, fellow officers and all who served alongside him. We will never forget his service.

Yesterday shortly before 4:30pm, Hunter Fire Department received one of those calls you hope to never receive. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of one of our very own firefighters, Lee Frisendahl.

Lee and his wife were involved in an accident southwest of town.

Lee was a vital part of our department and the community. Not only was he a member of our department, but was also a Sergeant with the Enid Police Department and a current board member for Kremlin-Hillsdale Public Schools. You wouldn't find anyone more willing to help out with youth and the community and the shock of this loss will most certainly be felt far beyond just our department and his family.

We ask that you please keep his family and all of the first responders in your thoughts and prayers and please respect their privacy as they navigate through this difficult time.
