Dear SMHA Partners, Members and Friends,

As Traci and I look back at the four years we've been together at SMHA, we know we have accomplished so much. SMHA exists to help the underserved and uninsured population connect to health care and charitable organizations for assistance. We have launched many tremendous new projects and programs, and truly believe that SMHA is an integral part of our community here in Arapahoe and Douglas Counties.

SMHA has been fortunate to have received funding for the last five years from various health foundations in Colorado. It is with great sadness then that I need to let you know that SMHA's general operating funding has come to an end. Traci and I have been working diligently with our Board to try to find other sustainability but alas it just has not come together quickly enough for us. Last week, the SMHA Board of Directors had to make the difficult decision to end our employment. This is an issue that is facing many of the other 28 health alliances around the State.

SMHA existed without staff for two years before Traci and I were hired, and I am sure it will continue to exist as the neutral health convener for years to come. Our excellent leaders on our Board of Directors are meeting next week to explore what this will look like. For now, we will start to suspend programming that staff supported.

Traci has a new position with another organization and her last day with SMHA will be on November 13, 2015. I am exploring employment and consulting opportunities and I am hopeful that I will end up where I am intended to be for this next exciting chapter in my life.

Traci and I are sincerely THANKFUL for all your wonderful support and collaboration, and especially for the friendships that we have made over these last four years. We truly have a community to be proud of and we both HOPE you will continue to support the SMHA Board as they move forward into 2016.

Take care and as always, MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
