Bloxwich Carnival

Bloxwich Carnival Bloxwich Carnival is the most important community event of the year in Bloxwich, England.

It takes place in August every year, at King George V Playing Fields, off Stafford Road, Bloxwich. The event currently consists of a ceremonial side and an series of arena entertainments plus many stalls and displays. The carnival begins around noon with the ceremonial crowning of an annual Carnival Queen, Princess and Rosebud, and the presentation of medals to young Carnival Ambassadors. The rest of the day consists of the presentation of arena events and the exhibit of numerous stalls, charitable, local organisations or commercial, plus displays. The Carnival originally held the crowning ceremony in the village centre at the Bloxwich Fountain, followed by a procession through the streets, but in recent years this has not been possible. The Carnival itself is traditionally preceded in July by a Senior Citizens Party at the former Bloxwich Baths, a tradition beginning in Victorian times, long before the Carnival itself began. Funds raised at the Carnival, which charges a small admission fee, fund the party, amongst other things carnival-related.
