Hey everyone, I’m really sorry but I need to cancel tonight’s meeting in Cotulla. I’m fighting off a head cold and don’t want to risk getting any of you sick.

I’d still love to connect—would y’all be open to a Zoom meeting tomorrow instead? Let me know what works best. 🤍

DIEP flap reconstruction is a type of breast reconstruction that uses tissue from the patient’s own abdomen, without cutting the abdominal muscle to create a new breast after mastectomy.

Because it uses the patient’s own tissue, the result can feel more natural over time. Recovery is more complex, but for some women, the long-term outcome feels worth it.

AiRS provides financial support and education for women exploring all reconstruction options.

Breast reconstruction has evolved—and for good reason. 💗

The shift from the TRAM flap to the DIEP flap reflects a broader movement in reconstruction: one that prioritizes not just appearance, but long‑term health, strength, and quality of life.

Unlike the TRAM flap, which sacrifices abdominal muscle, the DIEP flap preserves those muscles—helping reduce complications, shorten recovery, and support a more active lifestyle after surgery.

By protecting the body’s natural strength and function, DIEP reconstruction supports healing that lasts well beyond surgery. Many women find they’re better able to return to daily life feeling stronger, more capable, and more comfortable in their bodies.

At PRMA, we’ve embraced DIEP as the modern gold standard and continue to push reconstruction forward through innovations like High‑Def DIEP for enhanced aesthetics and TruSense™ for potential sensation restoration. Because reconstruction isn’t just about replacing what was lost—it’s about helping you feel whole again. ✨
