RULE Residents United for a Livable Emeryville RULE is a passionate and highly effective grassroots organization promoting progressive action and pro-resident initiatives in the City of Emeryville.

RULE was founded in 2008 to give residents a stronger voice in shaping our city. It grew out of concern that much of the new development in town had few, if any, benefits for the people who live here. Many residents voiced their desire for more open space, dog runs, locally serving retail, and pedestrian and bike access; affordable, family friendly housing that provides a mix of rental apartments

and condominiums; less density; and architectural design in keeping with Emeryville's architectural history. RULE has consistently lobbied developers and the City Council for these benefits. RULE also advocates for stable jobs that pay a livable wage, local labor agreements, quality schools, and neighborhoods free of excessive traffic, crime, pollution, and noise. RULE's goal is to engage a large and diverse group of residents in an ongoing discussion about how to make our city more livable.
