We held a CM-Elm parent gathering this past Sunday to reconnect and learn about the core values of our Children’s Ministry…now with a new name: Elm Sprouts! Sandy, Sophie, Jason, and Sharon shared about how the values of boosting confidence, building connectedness, and blessing the community align with the core values of Elm Church and encouraged parents with practical ways to partner and participate. Thank you to Sandy and this amazing team for their dedication and thoughtfulness when it comes to caring for children!

Back in early February, Lester messaged a few of our Elm worship team members and friends to host a Praise and Prayer Night together, open to our community and local youth groups. It became something bigger and truly memorable for everyone that was involved and for those that attended. Here he shares some of his thoughts:

“That praise night felt like something more than just a planned event. It felt like the voices in the room carried us. There was a kind of unity and sincerity that we can’t manufacture. I’m really grateful for how everyone leaned into the playlist Sandy put together. You could feel that people weren’t just singing songs, they were entering into something cool, together.

One of the things that stayed with me most was hearing from the parents who grew up in that specific sanctuary before it was remodeled. Several of them shared that when they were younger, they had never seen that sanctuary transformed in that way, so Spirit-led, so alive. Some of the churches that attended even did a survey afterward, and the consistent feedback was that the praise night felt like a room filled with powerful voices and meaningful worship. I also received a couple of emails from parents who said the night was deeply impactful for them personally, especially as adults who hadn’t experienced something like that since their college years.

I wanted to make sure we had photos from the night, not just as memories, but as a way to honor what happened. Honestly, I don’t see this done enough in churches. These moments DO matter. They form us as Christians. So this was my small attempt to help capture it. The way the space was transformed, through moving images, sound, through presence, through worship, it was deeply moving.”

Our Easter service was a true celebration! He is risen!

We witnessed the baptisms of Gamial, Urgyen, Jonah, and Cyrus and took part in Holy Communion together. We are excited to see how the Lord will lead and grow our newly baptized members. Our worship service was filled to brim with visitors and neighbors and our Easter egg hunt boasted the highest number of participants ever! We enjoyed a wonderful spread catered by local Thai spot Nook Rice Noodles and Ramen.

We want to thank SWOT for ensuring that the service went smoothly, especially our ushers Mike, Sung, and Natalie who made sure everyone that came in was greeted with a smile and had a seat. Special thanks to Teresa for baking a gorgeous sourdough loaf for Holy Communion, Joseph for taking photos to commemorate the special day, Sandy and her fantastic team—including Easter bunny Will!—for organizing an epic Easter egg hunt, and Sarah, Marissa, and Natalie for coordinating our meal and cleaning up. Thank you to all the folks that ensured that our visitors experienced Elm hospitality, asking their names and how they found us, inviting them to stay for lunch, encouraging them to take leftovers and to visit us next week. On this day of celebrating the meaning of the gospel it was truly uplifting to witness our church be a church for the community.
