Winter has officially arrived in Argentina, and children are facing cold conditions. The temperature can drop as low as 0°C (32°F) during the winter months!
While that temperature is tough for anyone, it feels absolutely freezing when your only shelter is a makeshift house made of plastic sheets, discarded cardboard, and whatever materials you can scavenge from the street. These fragile homes offer no insulation, leaving families completely exposed to the biting winter chill.

📚 Education Thrives Where Hunger Ends

For many families in Kenya, rising living costs have made it increasingly difficult to provide daily meals for their children. Through Star of Hope's School Feeding Program, over 1,300 children from vulnerable communities receive nutritious meals every school day.

URGENT!

🌏 Southern Philippines hit by devastating earthquake

On June 16, a powerful earthquake struck Polomolok on the island of Mindanao, leaving families homeless and communities in crisis.

Mindanao is the home island of Star of Hope Philippines co-founder Liling Coruna and many of our local partners. One of them, Sally Empuesto Buenaventura, describes the devastation:

"We are sleeping outside because we are afraid to go back into our house. It is still standing, but badly damaged."

For Sally's mother, the situation is even worse. Her roof has collapsed, leaving her home exposed to heavy rains that continue to destroy what little remains.

This is the second major earthquake to hit the area in just eight days. Entire families have lost their homes, their belongings, and their sense of security.

Every year on May 25th, Argentina celebrates the May Revolution of 1810—a historic moment that marked the beginning of the nation's journey toward independence.

Our students at our preschool Jardín Alba, were proud to take part in this year's community parade. Despite forecasts of cold and rain, the weather turned beautiful, allowing the children to fully enjoy the celebration. Wearing their uniforms, waving flags, and marching together, they experienced the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves.

A special thank you to the local mayor for providing transportation so the children could attend the event. This support reflects the power of a community that values children and education.

For our students, participating in the parade was about more than celebrating history. It was an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen their sense of belonging, and create memories they will cherish for years to come.

Recently, the children from the Star of Hope Center in Dorohoi enjoyed a wonderful Children’s Day filled with creativity, fun, and friendship.

During the celebration, they participated in a candle-making workshop, designed handmade bookmarks, and created colorful posters expressing what childhood, joy, and friendship mean to them. The activities gave the children an opportunity to learn new skills, express their creativity, and share special moments together.

Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and simply enjoy being a child. We are grateful to be part of creating these memorable experiences that build confidence, community, and hope for the future.
