The senior breakfast is always a capstone event at the end of the year for our department. Our incredible kitchen lead Heather outdid herself once again. This is her final year with us, so we hope the students felt the love she put into it.

How cute are the waffle cone cups?! Other choices included waffles, sausage, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, and more. Congratulations to all of our seniors!

Picnic in the Park returns! And this year families can get a week's worth of breakfast and lunch for every child (age 1-18) in their household. Register using the link below.

Registration is now open for FISH’s Picnic in the Park!

Once school is out, children and teens ages 1–18 can receive free weekly meal boxes at locations throughout Kittitas County.

This year, Picnic in the Park is moving to a meal box format at all locations. Each weekly box includes 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches per child, helping families access meals more flexibly throughout the week.

Preregistration is strongly encouraged and families who preregister will be guaranteed meal boxes.

Our annual elementary school BBQs are underway. Students and their families will see several special options this year: local beef burgers from Meeks Ranches and pork from Olsen Farms for our pulled pork sandwiches. We also have local apples from Rowley & Hawkins Fruit Farms and homemade pickles made with dill from Fernandez Farms. We hope to see you at one of our schools!

Morgan Middle school's lunch looked fabulous last Thursday. Homemade beef pasta, fresh roasted local asparagus from Rowley & Hawkins Fruit Farms, and a colorful salad bar. Our first student through the line tried a little bit of everything- we love this tray!

Shout out to our team at Lincoln elementary. We love how they share the day's meals to students on a large, colorful white board. Last Thursday they served a homemade apple cake for breakfast (with WA apples) and homemade chicken alfredo for lunch. They also decorated the inside of their kitchen with School Lunch Hero coloring pages given to them by students. It is always fun to walk into this kitchen and see the pride and care that goes into serving our students here. Great job Kyle and Liz!

This week we are testing a Sunshine Noodle Salad in our salad bars. This creamy peanut-free option is made with sun butter and loaded with fresh veggies and whole grain noodles. We hope students love it!

This recipe does contain wheat, soy, and sesame.

Last Friday, May 1, was School Lunch Hero Day! We are so grateful to our incredible team who show up each day to prepare healthy, delicious, and beautiful meals.

This year, our small but mighty team of 19 has already served:
🥞 Daily Breakfasts: 800
🍔 Daily Lunches: 1,500
🥣 Total Breakfasts (Year to Date): 121,000
🥗 Total Lunches (Year to Date): 231,000

That is over 350,000 meals this year alone. Not all superheroes wear capes... some wear aprons. 🦹‍♀️

We just had to take a photo of this Morgan Middle schooler's lunch tray earlier this week. Grilled cheese sandwiches are always a hit, served with homemade tomato soup, roasted potatoes and a fresh fruit and veggie bar. Elementary schools will see grilled cheese on the menu later this month!

Last week Chef Todd put together 30 grab and go Cobb salads for a staff advisory meeting. These colorful and nutrient-dense meals were a hit and made with items we already have in our kitchen. We love it when adults get a chance to try our food!

Thank you Morgan Middle School team for putting together beautiful and delicious salad bars each day for students! This one features a cold ramen salad, hardboiled eggs, and a variety of fresh veggies. Who's ready for lunch?!
