Western North Carolina German Shepherd Rescue is a charity organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing German Shepherd Dogs that have been given up or found themselves homeless in the WNC area. Through the good and the bad, a German Shepherd is always loyal to their family and will be there for them till the end. Unfortunately due to reasons that are sometime selfish and somet

imes beyond their control, many people give up their family GSD to animal shelters that have a mandatory euthanization policy. It has been our goal to try and save as many as we can from these kill shelters while simultaneously finding them new qualified forever homes. General information

Through a careful screening process, we place German Shepherd's into homes with compassionate individuals and families for an adoption fee of $110. This helps pay for vet visits, procedures, and vaccinations. We only have the resources to adopt dogs to families in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina areas. The application process includes an information request which tells us more about an individual’s experience level, lifestyle, other pets, preferences, etc... Prospective adopters are encouraged to bring all family members and existing pets to meet the dog(s) they are interested in. Once the dog has been selected, we perform a routine home visit to ensure the dog will be safe from any hazards, poisons, or dangerous situations. Adopters pledge to love and care for the adopted GSD throughout its entire lifetime. In the unlikely event an adopter is no longer able to care for the GSD, we require that it be returned to us for future placement. Our #1 goal is to keep GSD's out of kill shelters and abusive homes. Rescuing animals can be a daunting task. WNC German Shepherd Rescue relies on private donations and community support. Because we are a small rescue, from time to time we also look to foster GSD's to people who share our love of the breed. This is a great opportunity for anyone with questions or reservations to work with a GSD on a temporary basis. Usually lasting from a couple days to no more than a couple weeks.
