Cecil Anchor Point CASA of Cecil County is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children in foster care.

Our Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are trained volunteers who provide a voice for these vulnerable children, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are protected. In addition to our CASA program, we also offer the Cecil County Mentors program, providing guidance and support to youth in our community. After more than two and a half years together, Amie and Roman have built a relationship rooted in consistency, trust, and a whole lot of showing up.

Recently, their mentoring journey included a few long trips to Baltimore, so Roman could complete both portions of her cosmetology certification exam. And she did it; she passed and officially earned her certification!

But this milestone represents so much more than two tests.
Throughout their mentorship, Amie has been there to encourage her goals, help her explore opportunities, connect her with resources, celebrate her progress, and sometimes simply be the person in her corner when she needed one. From exploring educational opportunities and to making sure she could get where she needed to go, her mentor has consistently found ways to support her goals and her future.

And ultimately, that's what mentoring is about, not doing things for a young person, but walking alongside them as they discover what they are capable of and work toward the future, they envision for themselves.

Today, we are celebrating Roman's accomplishment and hard work that earned her this certification. And we're also celebrating Amie, cheering her on along the way.

Maybe it was a teacher who checked in, a neighbor who welcomed you, or a coach who saw what you were capable of before you did.

You could be that person for a youth in Cecil County.

Cecil Anchor Point is home to CASA of Cecil County, Cecil County Mentors, Cecil Visitation Center, and our developing Housing Initiative. Each has a distinct role, and together, our work supports stability for children, youth, and families.

Whether you give your time as an Advocate, become a mentor, or help with events and other volunteer opportunities, you can be part of that work.
