📻 It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Walworth County ARES!
On September 19, our volunteers participated in the Walworth County Health and Human Services Emergency Preparedness Expo. We enjoyed talking with community members about the role amateur radio can play in providing critical communications and information during disasters. We also shared how trained weather spotters can help by reporting what they observe in their communities, providing valuable information to emergency managers and the National Weather Service.
Then, on September 26, our operators were back in the field at Kettle Moraine State Forest, supporting the Fall Color Festival and Bike Ride. Volunteers staffed communications stations along the 33-mile race route, helping relay important information back to the start/finish area and the Wisconsin Bike Patrol.
These events are a great reminder of what volunteer communications can bring to our community: people, preparation, and reliable information when it matters.
