Lost dogs!

“Hi! Two dogs that my family cares for were posted earlier [on a different page.] They were last spotted at Lees Mccrae on campus.

They are our neighbors dogs but we always take care of them and they’ve basically become our own.

My dad is actively searching for them on campus right now, but it’s been a few hours since they were last seen there.

Their names are Charley (brown) and Marley (white and brown). They are incredibly sweet but may be a little skittish so please do not chase them. If possible to lure them in with treats long enough for my dad to get to them, please do.

Please keep an eye out for them and text or call me asap if you see them, 704-798-4400. My dad will be there quickly if so!!”

Important Rescue Update:

Due to current volunteer capacity, Scooter's Underdogs Rescue is unable to accept dog intakes at this time. This decision was not made lightly, and it is necessary to ensure we can continue serving our community at all.

Our community assistance programs remain open, including:
Neuter Scooter spay/neuter assistance program
Free Pet Tag Program
Pet Food Pantry
Applications for these programs can be found on our website at www.ScootersUnderdogs.org

The most important thing:

We continue to advocate for Avery County to establish a dedicated animal control department/shelter with the resources needed to address stray animals and neglect cases we also urge you to do the same. These are governmental responsibilities that rescues cannot sustainably fulfill.

Lasting solutions require a properly funded animal welfare system, and we will continue to support efforts that move our community in that direction.

Update to include they were humanely euthanized due to all the stars aligning and a vet able to do it being on shift.** they did not linger
