Today we celebrated our Eastwick Cowboys Football and Cheer athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers, donors and all who support our organization.
We honored 2 deserving men from our community with the Jaleel Grady Community Service Award. Mr. Darryl "Born" Hall and Mr. Alvaro Correia. Two men who embodie giving back and supporting our community. ❤️
We also presented 2 Appreciation Awards to The Elizabeth Housing Authority (Cathy Hart and Bill Jones) and Bossa Fish (Felipe Carvalho). It is because of generous donations from businesses and individuals that we can continue to provide our youth with this program.
A special highlight of our event was guest speaker Mr. Rodney Carter. Rodney was a 2 sport All Star at Elizabeth High School (79-82). He attended Purdue University after receiving multiple scholarship offers and had a prolific athletic career. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1986 and played for them until 1989. For all his accomplishment, we honored Mr. Carter with a key to the City of Elizabeth.
Special thanks to everyone who helped us make this banquet a success, especially all of our wonderful volunteers. Algarve Restaurant and Mario's Pizza for the excellent food and The City of Elizabeth Recreation Dept.. We also want to thank Mayor Bollwage, Senator Cryan, Assemblywoman Quijano, County Commissioners Granados, Director of Recreation and Board of Education Commissioners Stan Neron and Iliana Chevres for joining us today in celebrating our athletes.
