From The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center:

Our founder, Coretta Scott King’s, life touched the world and transformed lives. As we commemorate her 99th birthday, we are grateful for the love, compassion, wisdom, and leadership she invested in humanity.

We acknowledge Coretta Scott King’s indelible mark on global society and embrace her 99th birthday‘s significance in preparing the stage for KING 100 - a series of powerful experiences commemorating her 100th birthday on April 27, 2027 and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 100th birthday on January 15, 2029.

Commemorate with us. Commit to nonviolence with us. Create the Beloved Community with us.

“Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are connected.

What happens in one part of the world does not stay there. It shapes economies, displaces families, influences policy, and impacts lives far beyond borders.

Global instability is not distant. It is shared. It is felt in ways we may not immediately see, but we are all affected.

Kingian Nonviolence reminds us that we belong to a World House. Our humanity is interconnected, and our responsibility to one another cannot be confined by geography.

If we are serious about creating the Beloved Community, we must recognize that what affects one directly affects all indirectly, and choose to act accordingly.”

Post By The King Center on X:

The night before he was assassinated. And Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke powerfully about where and what we could be (economic and racial parity, an improved “Jericho Road”) and how we could get there (love for each other, economic withdrawal, supporting Black banks, working for justice on “Jericho Road”).

He had gone higher in his spirit and mind and had seen that we could and would get there.

“And he’s [God’s] allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over and I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land.”

58 years later…we are not yet THERE. But if we love each other, learn to live together, dismantle the things that seek to destroy humanity, and improve conditions for people across the globe, we will get there.
