We had a wonderful time at yesterday’s Mother’s Day event hosted by the amazing staff at Gary Del Palacio Recreation Center in collaboration with the Eastwood Neighborhood Association.💐

A special thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so memorable:

• El Paso Community College for hosting the Fashion Show and Makeup Tutorial

•Eastwood High School Mariachi Reyna

•Eastwood High School Folklórico

•Maria Treviño of the National Park Service for providing an informative overview of rivers, trails, and their Conservation Assistance Program

•The El Paso Neighborhood Coalition for donating prizes and helping out

Special thanks to District 3 Representative Deanna Maldonado-Rocha for donating food, from Eastside Choice Meats, to the neighborhood association so we could share a meal with all attendees.

Thank you to the Del Palacio Family for providing treats, bottled water, corsages and giveaways for our guests.

🌿 Special Garden Tour Highlight 🌿

We cannot thank Dr. Kevin Floyd enough for Part II of our meeting experience, as he led us through the beautiful UTEP Chihuahuan Desert Gardens tour on Saturday, March 29.

We had a fantastic turnout of approximately 20 community members! Everyone was excited to learn about the native plants and gardening tips unique to our area and climate. It was truly an amazing experience to witness the overall beauty of our local environment.

Events like these showcase the strength of our neighborhood and the power of community connection. We are so proud of what we continue to build together and look forward to seeing even more neighbors join us at our next meeting and future community events! 💚

🌿 Special Garden Tour Highlight 🌿

We cannot thank Dr. Kevin Floyd enough for Part II of our meeting experience, as he led us through the beautiful UTEP Botanical Gardens tour on Saturday, March 29.

🌿March Monthly Meeting🌿

Our monthly meeting was held Thursday, March 26, at Gary Del Palacio Rec Center.

Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Floyd from The University of Texas at El Paso for the informative presentation on UTEP’s Botanical Gardens. It was fascinating to learn more about the plants, beauty and natural resources that make our region so unique.

We are also very grateful to Gary Del Palacio’s Director, Amilcar Galindo, for providing seeds and sharing helpful guidance on growing edible plants such as cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. These kinds of resources help our families and neighbors continue learning, planting, and growing together.

A sincere thank you to Jessie Moreno from District 3’s office for keeping our neighborhood informed with updates on the many positive things happening throughout our community.

And of course, thank you to Starbucks (Yarbrough) for the coffee that made our conversations even more welcoming ☕️

A big thank you to the El Paso Police Department for hosting this month’s meeting at the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center.

We appreciate Assistant Chief John Lanahan, Commander Jason Johnson and Lieutenant Sean Shelton for taking the time to share updates on department initiatives, community safety and public resources.

Thank you for everything you do to keep our community safe!

A huge thank you to the Conservation Society of El Paso for turning our monthly meeting into such a fun, hands-on experience! Everyone had a blast, learned so much and loved the interactive presentations. You all brought such great energy to our meeting! Please come back again soon🐰
