🇲🇽🇺🇸 Borders changed. People didn’t disappear.
Before California and Texas were U.S. states, they were part of Mexico.
Before that, they were home to Indigenous nations whose history stretches back thousands of years.
Families lived, worked, built communities, and raised generations on this land long before 1848. When borders shifted after war and treaties, many people didn’t “cross” a border — the border crossed them.
This isn’t about rewriting history.
It’s about remembering all of it.
California and Texas are shaped by Indigenous roots, Mexican heritage, and American development. Their culture, language, architecture, food, music, and traditions reflect that layered history.
Acknowledging this past doesn’t divide us — it deepens understanding.
