What can one opportunity become?

For a young person, discovering a new possibility can be the beginning of something much bigger. A new interest. A goal they had not considered. A future they can begin to picture for themselves.

Through the Young Achievers Forum, CommUNITY en Acción helps create those moments of discovery and encourages students to explore where their potential can take them.

This El Paso Giving Day, every dollar donated to CEA will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous CEA member, creating twice the opportunity to inspire what comes next.

Help a young person discover what’s possible:

Board Chair Dr. Christina Paz, Inspiring the Next Generation of Healthcare Leaders.

Dr. Christina Paz, CEO of Centro San Vicente and CEA Board Chair, along with UMC CEO Maria M. Zampini recently joined UTEP's College of Health Sciences Experience Panel, encouraging incoming students to see themselves as future healthcare leaders.

Students gained valuable insights from a variety of healthcare professionals and were encouraged as they begin their academic journeys.

Dr. Paz has credited the UTEP Doctor of Nursing Practice program with teaching her to think differently and make strategic decisions with purpose.

By sharing their experiences and perspectives, Zampini and Dr. Paz encouraged students to lead with purpose, embrace opportunities to learn, and make a meaningful impact in the communities they serve.

Thank you, Christina and Maria!

Oranges - Hometown Premiere

CEA member Valeria Contreras, writer and director, held the hometown premiere of her short film, Oranges at the Plaza Theatre.

Set in 1970s El Paso, Oranges follows a quiet goodbye between two sisters, Griselda and Lucia, at a streetcar stop. The story unfolds in Sunset Heights, a historic neighborhood where the streetcar once connected El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. Through the sisters’ unspoken words, the film explores family, sacrifice, and the difficult choices we sometimes make in pursuit of our dreams.

As Lucia prepares to leave home to pursue her dreams, Griselda remains behind to care for their ailing mother.
We are proud to celebrate Valeria and the creative work she is bringing to our community and sharing with audiences. For more information, please contact Valeria at [email protected].

¡Felicidades, Valeria! We look forward to celebrating this special hometown premiere with you.
