The Underserved Communities Foundation is proud to celebrate Diana Hastings, Executive Director, on her 5th work anniversary! 🎉

Since August 2021, Diana has been the main driving force behind UCF, leading programming, development, partnerships, and even Sweet Beginnings home deliveries. Diana always has the community members that UCF serves in mind, recognizing the limitations that they may be experiencing and how UCF programs can help them bridge those gaps. Diana pours her energy and soul into the foundation's mission and is truly committed to empowering the underserved.

Please help us congratulate our executive director, Diana Hastings, as we commemorate her fifth year of leading our team! Thank you for all you do, Diana!

Jackets for Kids season has begun! 🗣

Last year, you all helped us grant 575 children a brand-new jacket, just in time for the winter season. That means that students from the ages of 3 to 18 years old from 13 different schools around El Paso had a proper coat for the cold temps thanks to you!

It is now time to team up and make an impact for this year's winter!
As you might know, rising costs for basic needs also mean families will be prioritizing housing, food, transportation, healthcare, and more, leaving limited resources for appropriate winter clothing. To add, many children from families facing transportation and financial barriers spend extended periods outdoors walking to and from school or waiting at bus stops. For a child without a properly fitting winter jacket, those cold mornings can affect their comfort, health, and ability to arrive at school ready to learn. For some, that lack of a proper jacket might even determine whether they will attend school for the day or not.

This is where you can help, and here's how:

💙Make a Donation: Every contribution matters, and just $20 can provide one brand-new winter jacket.

💙Start a Workplace Fundraiser: Invite your coworkers to create a team and set a fundraising goal. A $500 team goal, for example, can help provide approximately 25 children with new jackets.

💙Invite Friends & Family: Share the UCF Jackets for Kids initiative with your personal and professional networks and encourage others to join your efforts.

💙Spread the Word: Share the campaign through socials, civic groups, or other community networks.

Through UCF's Jackets for Kids initiative, we believe children should not have to worry about the cold. They deserve to have this basic need met so they can focus on their studies, academic growth, and simply being children. Join us!

UCF is honored to have been able to collaborate with AT&T in helping equip 50 higher education students with laptops and school supplies.

The awardees of this laptop program underwent an application process, and all are currently enrolled in courses. This means that, thanks to AT&T, 50 individuals and/or families have been granted a laptop that will help facilitate their student and career journey. After all, access to functional devices and connectivity are an essential part of our everyday, especially when pursuing studies and employment.

We want to thank our community partners who worked along with us to help get us in touch with these student recipients, as well as Compudopt who sourced the refurbished laptops. A special thank you to Mario Barragan, the AT&T team, as well as the UCF volunteers - you all have helped close the gap of digital access within our El Paso community!

The Underserved Communities Foundation is grateful to receive a $25,000 investment by AT&T in support of "Digital Empowerment for All", which is a digital literacy workshop series coming directly to the El Paso communities that need these skills the most.

Access to technology and digital literacy are no longer luxuries but are essential to participating in everyday life. Unfortunately, underserved individuals are disproportionately affected by the digital divide, often lacking reliable access to computers, internet connectivity, and the digital skills needed to navigate an increasingly technology-driven world.

Thanks to this generous contribution by AT&T, UCF will be bringing these digital literacy sessions directly to the people we serve, in partnership with community organizations who already assist vulnerable populations throughout the El Paso region. Providing these lessons and tools directly on location helps close the gap of digital access even more through hands-on learning and by eliminating the factor of transportation needed to attend.

We are incredibly grateful for AT&T’s commitment to digital equity and for the trust they have placed in UCF to bring this wonderful opportunity to our community. Thank you, Mario Barragan, the AT&T team, and Carlos Martinez for making this possible!

It's the start of August and so that means that our 3rd Annual Jackets for Kids kicks off too! 😄

The mission of this UCF initiative is to provide 500 new winter jackets at an average cost of $20 each to local children in need. With the rising costs of basic needs, families are forced to choose between essentials like food and shelter, leaving only a small budget available for warm clothing.

Lack of a proper jacket can determine whether a child will go to school on a winter day or stay home – leaving an impact on attendance, learning, and stability. Not having a warm coat also affects more than a child's physical well-being, but mental and emotional too as being cold impacts focus, learning capacity, and wonder.

This back-to-school season, consider joining us in reaching our goal of providing 500 proper jackets before the cold arrives!

Here's how to get involved:

 🤝 Team Up & Participate! 🤝
Create a team with your family, organization, or employment company, and working together to make the most impact. After all, it is true that we are better together.

⭐Make a Monetary Donation ⭐
Just $20 provides a brand-new jacket for a child.

📣Share & Spread the Word📣
Share this with your socials communities, colleagues, and friends to help more learn about the opportunity to provide warmth this winter 2026!

If you'd like to learn more about Jackets for Kids 2026, please head to: https://underservedcommunitiesfoundation.org/j4k2026/ The donation link can be found on the same page!

Thank you! We are excited to work together to create more impact. 🧥

Harmonious Home is a UCF program that partners with local nonprofit organizations to identify individuals & families who are transitioning from a shelter, transitional living center, or who are aging out of the foster care system. The team then helps prepare & design their new independent living spaces that participants will begin calling their home.

In the end, participants are able to walk into well-designed & fully furnished homes, giving them more time to focus on other aspects of rebuilding their lives while living in a space that helps bring beauty into their everyday.
