Some of us watched in horror as the events of 9/11/2001 unfolded on the news, and some that serve beside us today weren’t even born yet. The memories, stories, and recollections of those who were lost that day linger with us now, 25 years later, as they always should. Close to 3,000 people lost their lives in a horrific and evil plot to strike fear in our hearts as Americans. Instead, we stood up. Strong in the face of adversity. And we signed up. As soldiers, as law enforcement, as healthcare professionals, and as firefighters. We’ve stood strong in the shadow of the memory of those lost, but with those fallen always beside us.
