Non- Profit Organization (501c3) for the benefit of animals and wellness of people. Visitation by event or appointment only.

Canine & Equine Ranch, also known as The Ranch, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was formed to offer sanctuary to neglected animals and provide educational experiences to the community. Our outreach programs offer educational experiences with sanctuary residents and trained therapy animals. We provide a volunteer program as well as autism support and homeschool sessions. Our goal is to teach compassionate handling and proactive training methods, to help prevent more animals from entering the rescue system. We want our community to be excited about animals! The Ranch has provided a home to many animals that have been rescued, adopted or donated. We specialize in canine and equine species but have open arms for many different types of creatures. Once they have been rehabilitated, they are able to interact with visitors for educational purposes. From community art classes to animal visits at the assisted living facility, we've done our job when we see the smiles!

Sadly Placer Farm Supply is shutting down its store.

During the store closing sale, Jan Hatch purchased numerous items to provide our operation with much needed supplies.

We now have more muck rakes, water troughs, grooming supplies, salt, buckets, wound care, and fly spray!

This is Shamus. He is a quarter horse gelding at 12 years old and 15 hands. Solid trail horse until they paused riding due to allergic reactions.

His owner spent a year with frequent veterinary care and testing to get the allergies to subside. We took him in as a last ditch effort to see if a location change would make the allergies subside. Thankfully, it did!

Shamus is completely off medication! However, during his medical situation he developed behavioral issues. Shamus is not what we would consider an “in your pocket” horse to begin with, so when the work decreased and the pellets for medication became daily, it created a sour and occasionally aggressive attitude.

Shamus could possibly be brought back at a great partner for someone. He would need a behaviorally savvy person. If you are interested please send us a message.

Looking at this list leaves me at a loss for words.

I made a post hoping for a few kind people to help me get some more bales of hay while Lees Feed & Western Store had their sale going on.

Donations started to come in. A bale, two bales, four bales. And then it kept coming in. Our friends started sharing and in a couple of days, we had not only raised enough to fill the feed room, we covered all the feed for October!

Our gratitude to everyone who shared and donated! Proof that taking the time to share post or chip in $20 truly does add up and make a difference!!!

Can you spare $20 to help us fill the feed room?

On average, a bale of hay costs $20. Lately, finances have been tight, so we’ve been making smaller trips to restock. The downside is that these frequent, smaller runs cost us more time and diesel.

We know times are challenging for many, and we understand that not everyone is in a position to give. But if you’re able to pitch in, even $20 can help us stock the feed room and keep our animals fed.

Every bale makes a difference, and every bit of support means so much to us. (And it is a tax deductible contribution.) Thank you for being part of our ranch!

A little peek into my morning with Shadow:

It wasn’t easy but I did get it done! (Shadow is the feral minded horse, with horrible hooves, that we took in for rehab.)
