Meet Seham.

Seham was 8 years old when we met her. She was happy to march into her 3rd grade class each day and learn. But she was struggling. Seham's backpack was falling apart. On the way to school, her pencils and other school supplies would scatter out of her bag. Her family lived in poverty and was unable to find new supplies for their daughter.

When we visited, we gifted Seham with one of our Christmas Blessing Gifts and she was so overjoyed that she cried. She had been praying that God would provide, and she rejoiced when she received her new backpack and school supplies!

With the Christmas season upon us, we are looking forward to giving away our Christmas Blessing Packages again this year. Our goal is to reach 1,500 children with a gift for this season. Each gift costs $25 and includes:
-Backpack
-Notebooks
-Pencils
-Pens
-Crayons
-Eraser
-Pencil Sharpener
-Coloring Books
-Picture Bible
-Whole Chicken
-Bag of Rice
-Cooking Oil
-Chocolate/Candy
PLUS a Bible!

We give these blessings to the most under-reached minority children in Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and Syria. Many of these children come from Muslim families and the Bible will be the first one to ever be received in their homes. We find that these gifts are a tangible way to show the hands and feet of Jesus.
We have so many testimonies of how reaching a child has changed the lives of the entire family. We are returning to the Middle East at the beginning of January to distribute the gifts.

Lebanon Testimony:

Lydia is 75 years old and has blood pressure problems to the point that she cannot walk. She has spent most of her adulthood sitting by the window watching television and the people pass by her home. One minute before the explosion she felt thirsty. Her daughter was out of the home, so she got up to go to the kitchen for water. As soon as she entered the kitchen, the windows in her home exploded and the explosion rocked her building. The wardrobe sitting behind her chair fell over on to the very spot where she was sitting. If she had not gotten up, she would have been killed by the weight of wardrobe.

Lebanon Update:

The Beirut explosion destroyed all the ovens and refrigerators in the neighborhoods surrounding the blast. To lend aid to the people, Holy Spirit Church bought new refrigerators and ovens and took them to the people. They replaced the new ones with the damaged ones. Then they took the damaged ones back to the church, repaired them and then gave them away too.

Lebanon Testimony:

The pastor of Holy Spirit Church told us that 30 minutes before the explosion, almost all 40 families in one particular neighborhood left their homes for various reasons. With the exception of one person, all members of the church were safe when the explosion happened. Their homes were completely destroyed. We feel this is a testimony to the teaching of Holy Spirit Church. Their members are so well trained to hearing God’s voice that they obey and follow His voice every single day without even thinking. Heeding to His voice in their daily routines saved their lives. The families are currently taking shelter in Holy Spirit Church.

Lebanon Testimony:

Lillian, a member of Holy Spirit Church in Beirut, suffers with diabetes. When Covid-19 hit Lebanon, she stayed quarantined in her home for 7 months because of being high risk. Then on August 4, 2020, she decided to go visit her sister who was sick. Lillian’s sister lived out of town on the other side of Beirut. When Lillian returned to her home, she found her apartment building demolished because of the explosion! All of the glass from the windows was blocking the streets. She feels that it was God who urged her to go visit her sick sister. This nudging saved her life.

Remember the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon back in August 2020? Check out these interesting facts about how Beirut was effected by the explosion!

During the civil war in 1975-1990, Beirut was divided - eastern Beirut and western Beirut. Today, eastern Beirut is inhabited by the Christians and western Beirut by the Muslims. Because of the wheat silos around the port, western Beirut was saved during the explosion, but eastern Beirut was took the brunt of the impact. All of the damage and victims from the explosion were Christians. The Muslim side was protected.

We want to share some updates from the church in Lebanon over the next month about how God has been at work! Stay tuned!

Want to change the lives of persecuted Christians in the world? Join in supporting a ministry that does just that....

Hope for the Persecuted is a nonprofit organization that has a physical, mental, and spiritual impact on the persecuted women and men of the world.

The ministry's mission is to raise public awareness of the issue of the persecution of Christians worldwide, engage the universal Christian Church to step up and support suffering Christians, and bring hope to all, the persecuted and the persecutor – the hope that is found in Jesus Christ our Lord.

All donations go to securing safe houses, providing food, clothing, and supplies to the poor, education centers for refugee children, building churches, outreach programs, and supporting pastors and their families. To put things in perspective, $12 will feed a family for a month in some of the poorest areas the ministry serves. Every dollar is making a difference.
