Project 612 was invited to speak to area food service directors this week. We described our program and explained how it might benefit their school districts. We are excited by the possibility to help more communities "Let Nothing Be Wasted"!

Project 612 was grateful to participate in Metro Outreach Weekend alongside other nonprofits making an impact in our communities. Bonus: got to catch up with one of our long time partners, Community Hope Center. While visiting the Ferry Building Farmers Market in San Francisco recently, I was thrilled to witness a local food recovery organization pulling up their truck to collect the leftovers.

New Partner Spotlight: SIUE Cougar Cupboard fights hunger on the SIUE campus. Volunteer Connie will begin delivering food collected from Goshen Elementary to the cupboard on Mondays. We are happy to see some items on their needs list (milk, applesauce, and fruit), are the same items we are recovering, creating a great opportunity to "Let Nothing Be Wasted"!

EHS students, Libby, Justin, and Weston, have met the challenge, picking up and delivering food weekly. We love seeing food recovery being fostered in the next generation. Partner Spotlight: Churches on the Streets STL exists to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the poor through Christ. They have been picking up non-perishable Project 612 donations weekly from Columbus Elementary since 2022. Providing food to the unhoused through their impactful street ministries helps "Let Nothing Be Wasted"!

Our school year has been running smoothly, but this fall we had a new prospect. An area business, Modjeski and Masters, Inc., was moving to a new location and looking for sustainable solutions for unneeded furniture and cubicle partitions. Working with our Project 612 partners and Faith Coalition - Edwardsville we were able to help rehome 89 partitions, 18 tables, file cabinets, chairs, and more to several food pantries, overnight warming stations, and community colleges. Thank you to all involved! We love when the connections we have forged bring unexpected opportunities to 'Let Nothing Be Wasted'!
