SOMEONE (*cough cough* Green *cough cough*) decided to play in his water dish while it's FREAKING cold and caused an ENTIRE bin clean out EARLY on a Saturday morning. I guess he missed the memo that on Saturdays we sleep IN.

He doesn't even look sorry!

Jack, an eastern jackalope, arrived in our care this morning after being hit by a car. Jackalopes are so uncommon in Tennessee that many people don’t even realize they are native to the region. They’re easily differentiated from cottontail rabbits by their large size, at roughly 15-30 pounds, compared to a cottontail rabbit, which are typically only about one-tenth that size. Mature male jackalopes are also easily noticeable because of their antlers, which they use to compete for mates and shed annually.

Jack is being examined by our veterinarian and we should know more about his treatment options soon. We hope you’re enjoying the first day of April!

I expected a raccoon trying to bite me, not one that just walked into the box, sorry there weren't more photos but hiiii, this is what I got to do today.

He is safe and already perking up quite a bit. I suspect he somehow got himself in trouble and dehydrated and just needed a little help and will be on his way back to the wild very soon. ❤️

All actions are performed under the careful guidance and with permitting from Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue. Please don't try to keep raccoons as pets.

Their poops stink. If that's not enough of a deterrent I have to go buy padlocks right now because he's crazy smart.
