We join in affirming this perspective from Voices for Vaccines. 👶🏼 👩🏻‍⚕️ All infants should be given a healthy start, with protection from preventable illnesses.

Dr. Nathan Money says: "Most parents have not witnessed the devastation that vaccine-preventable illnesses can cause children, particularly young infants, but we unfortunately see it in children’s hospitals all too commonly...As one of the few that has seen infants hospitalized by preventable disease, I plead with parents to protect their children."

We applaud Nathan for sharing his vaccination motivation. We’d love to share your story supporting vaccination too! Go to our website to share your photo and story: https://www.voicesforvaccines.org/why-i-vax/

New research using a natural experiment design found consistent reductions in diagnosed influenza among vaccinated young children in every season studied from 2016 to 2023.

The risk of measles in pregnancy is an ongoing threat in light of the current nationwide outbreak. 🤰👶🍼 If you’re pregnant, talk with your doctor about prevention, especially if you were not immunized as a child.

An ongoing measles outbreak in Utah has sickened more than 650 people, including many unvaccinated children. New research also shows that children who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons are becoming ill, and one pregnant woman who contracted measles passed the virus to her newborn.

The risks during pregnancy are especially serious: pregnant women are 10 times more likely to die from measles, and infection can lead to miscarriage or premature labor.

For babies, the dangers can extend long after recovery. Infants who contract measles before age one face a higher risk of developing subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), a rare and fatal neurological condition that can appear years after the initial infection.

The AAP recommends the two-dose MMR vaccine series to protect children from measles. Read the full article to learn more: https://nyti.ms/4e1e47w
