Four years ago, Dr. Bob Long came to us and said, “I think God is calling us to be the church.” Within weeks, we began Community Market OKC, and Meals on Wheels expanded to become the largest provider of home-delivered meals in the OKC metro. To our incredibly generous donors, partner churches, hospitals, businesses, and community organizations, - not to mention so many wonderful volunteers - thank you for making it happen.

We had an absolutely great group of volunteers helping prepare and deliver Meals on Wheels to seniors who couldn’t spend Thanksgiving with their family. All together, the churches who make up our coalition delivered nearly 600 meals across Oklahoma County.

Four years ago today, St. Luke's Methodist Church launched Meals on Wheels Oklahoma City and began coordinating efforts for the 60-plus churches, hospitals, businesses and community organizations who deliver charitable meals to seniors in Oklahoma County. In that time, we’ve delivered more than 500,000 meals to more than 2,600 people, growing from around 400 active clients to nearly 1,000.

Any accolades for our success goes to our partners, the many volunteers who show up day after day to prepare and deliver meals, our donors, and organizations like Areawide Aging Agency and Meals on Wheels America who give of their time and resources to make this possible.

Finally, thank you to the seniors we are so privileged to serve. You allow us to share a small slice of your lives, and we are continually blessed by your smiles and gratitude. You make our efforts worthwhile.

We were honored and thrilled to receive this award and generous donation from Esther Women OKC. For more than a decade, Esther Women have inspired women of faith and supported so many worthy causes. This award will make a difference in the lives of hundreds of seniors across Oklahoma County.
