The aviators, Ed Galkin and Peter Teahen from the Flight to end Polio have returned, setting 3 records. Ed at 89 is now the oldest person to fly across the Atlantic in a single engine plane (he did it twice!) and a speed record was set from Ponta Del Gada, Azores, Portugal to St. John's, Newfoundland - 9 hours, 48 minutes!

Ed previously set the record for flying a single engine plane around the world at 87 in 2022.

Flight To End Polio

On August 30, 2025, Ed Galkin of the Edison Rotary Club and his friend Peter Teahen of the Cedar Rapids West Rotary Club departed on the second "Flight to End Polio" from Central Jersey Airport in Hillsborough NJ. The purpose is to raise funds that will be matched 3 to 1 by the Gates Foundation for Rotary's Polio+ initiative to eradicate Polio around the world. Here are some pictures from the departure.
