RGV Gammas The purpose of Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority shall be primarily one of promoting standards of excellence in morality, ethics, and education.

Further, the Sorority shall work to better serve the needs and wants of all the people by disseminating information about the diverse culture, which we all share. Finally, the Sorority shall maintain respect for the views of others, through this valuing, thereby, enhancing our understanding of one another, and thus bettering our community, our country, and the world.

Major: Criminal Justice

What made you decide to go Gamma?
“I wanted to go Gamma since I wanted to be part of an organization that made me feel safe and help me get out of my comfort zone. Re-enrolling at the university was a scary feeling, especially after taking a gap year. I wanted to explore any organizations or sororities that the university had to offer, and my eyes landed on SLG. I kept seeing flyers to join the sisterhood and saw the events that were planned out for the semester, and it honestly made me feel very comfortable. I knew that I wanted to be a Gamma when I would go to the social events, and everyone was super nice and very helpful in getting me out of my comfort zone. I started to explore more parts of myself that I didn’t know, and I am very glad to have joined the sorority.”

Future Goal: To be able to teach little kids and make my classroom feel like a home away from home.

What made you decide to go Gamma?
“What made me decide to go Gamma was seeing how happy they were and the positive community they gave off. Going to these recruitment events and seeing the strong bonds of friendship and how caring they were made me want to build friendships with each and every one of them. Seeing their principles made me wonder if applying these principles to myself could make me the better version of myself, and it was indeed the best decision I have made going into college.”

As I spent more time with them, I saw myself not only contributing to the sorority but also growing alongside them. For the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel out of place. It felt as though I had finally found a place where I truly belonged, and that was when I began to fall in love with the sorority.”

Aliyah joined the Chi Beta Chapter in Spring 2025 and has been a wonderful part of our sisterhood ever since. They are always kind, welcoming, and bring so much positivity to those around them. They helped out anyone who needed it, and their caring spirit and bright energy have made a lasting impact on our chapter. They will be missed by everyone, Congratulations Aliyah!🩷💜✨
