Today is TFMR (termination for medical reasons) awareness day. It's a type of pregnancy loss that is often forgotten, rarely spoken about, and in many cases, misunderstood.

It is a decision that carries unimaginable pain even when you know it is the right one.

Thirteen years ago we were faced with that situation. Tests showed our unborn child had several chromosomal abnormalities. She was missing part of her heart and had several other organ deformities. Should she even survive to birth, the quality of her life would be extremely poor.

And so at just past 20 weeks in the pregnancy, we decided to TFMR.

We were given no resources to grieve, begin healing, or even make sense of what we had just gone through. Out of that pain came Through the Heart because we didn't want anyone else to feel the same way we did.

The pregnancy loss community and the conversations we're having have come a long way since then but we still have a lot of work to do. We're thankful for each and every person who has been a part of advancing the care + support for parents facing a loss of any kind, and we will continue to speak out about our experience in the hope that it can help just one more person feel less alone.

For those who have gone through TFMR, we see you. We know your pain then, now, and always. ❤

Today is International Bereaved Mother's Day, a day set aside to honor the mothers whose love outlasted loss.

To every mother carrying a child in her heart instead of her arms: you are not forgotten. Your baby is not forgotten.

Motherhood looks many different ways. For some, it is lived in the quiet moments — in the anniversaries marked, the candles lit, the names spoken softly.

We’re thrilled to share that we received a second $250 Spark Good local grant, this time from Sam's Club in Baltimore! This grant will go towards the Comfort Kit program which improves care, support, and connection for individuals & families after a pregnancy loss of any type. We are so grateful for the partnership and proud to spark good in our community!

Researchers from the University of Illinois Chicago are conducting a study and need our help! If you have experienced a miscarriage in the last 2 years and were working full-time when it occurred, please visit go.uic.edu/leavestudy to see if you qualify to participate.

Research studies like this help inform change related to pregnancy loss policies in the workplace so let's try and get as many participants as possible for them! Please share with anyone you know who may be eligible ❤
