WLOE hosted its May dinner meeting, marking the end of the membership year. Club members showered baby gifts and donations for the Rockingham Pregnancy Care Center as part of their community support and outreach (see pic of donated items).
Recognizing and awarding the WLOE Scholarships were the highlights of the evening. Three outstanding Morehead High School students were given a one time monetary award. Recipients of $250 each were Valerie Howell - who will attend UNC Chapel Hill to major in nursing- and Kyndall Garrett - who will attend Appalachian State University to major in nursing. Nathan Howard received a $500 scholarship; he will attend Gardner-Webb University to major in engineering and continue his wrestling career on the collegiate level. Congratulations to our WLOE scholarship winners!
Allison Huffman Ormond, scholarship committee chair, club member since 2015 and current Vice President, was recognized for her service to the club as she moves and begins a new chapter closer to her children and grandchildren.
