Why do we spend so much time on berms?

I asked Bryce that exact question this week, after we sank over 5 hours into a single berm β€” one that turned out to be brutally rocky underneath. His answer: "People expect great quality work from us, and we don't want to let them down."

That pretty much sums up how this crew operates. We could rush it and move on, but that's not the trail we'd want to ride either.

This week's numbers: 4 new berms and 1,600' of new trail. We were hoping to hit 2.5 miles β€” the halfway point on this project β€” but landed at 2.2. Given how much rock we fought through, we'll take it.

We also had an incredible turnout from Weber High School Mountain Bike Team β€” almost 40 kids showed up to help build. Huge thanks to them and their coaches for putting in the work. This is exactly the kind of community support that keeps trails like this moving forward.

Rocks, Dust, and Left Arms β€” Hope YOUR Week Was Better πŸ˜…

Well, it's been a rough week. We're running the trail through what can only be described as a rock quarry β€” so many rocks to flatten, remove, or somehow work into a trail. Not to mention 90+ degree days and the dust. So. Much. Dust.

Also, both our Board Chair John and Exec Director Alan have had accidents requiring surgery on their left arms. Talk about bad luck. πŸ˜…

We're at 93/250 done β€” turns out trail progress sounds a lot better as a fraction!

Thanks to the volunteers who came out Wednesday and helped us put in two new bridges. We really appreciate the help.

πŸ“Έ Bryce found a little trail buddy out there β€” just another day on the crew.

If you're interested in helping out for a few hours during the day, drop us a DM. We can use it β€” Alan still hasn't figured out how to use loppers one-handed (yet).

Don't forget about the webcams up at the South Gate Trailhead β€” check them out here: https://www.edenvalleytrails.com/webcams. It's a great way to see how busy the trails are before you head out.

You can also check the current temp at the Ben Lomond Station, located at the north end of the Connector Trail: https://bit.ly/3TphNFn

Plan ahead, ride smart, see you out there!

Happy Pioneer Day, Everyone! πŸ”οΈ

Wrapping up the week with a big thank you to West Field High School Mountain Bike Team for getting out on the trails and putting in some solid volunteer hours! This week's work at North Fork Park:

πŸ”§ Long Loop β€” trimmed
πŸ”§ Waterfall β€” trimmed and stinging nettle removed
πŸ”§ Traildemic β€” trimmed

Also β€” the new directional trail keeps chugging along, now sitting at 29/100 complete or 29%.

Want to get your hands dirty (literally) on a trail crew day? Reach out β€” we'd love to have you.

Happy Pioneer Day, and see you out on the trails! 🚡

Happy Friday, everyone! πŸŽ‰

It's been a hot and dusty week out on the trail! The crew has been hard at it on the new directional trail at North Fork Park, and we're officially 13/50ths of the way done. That's 26% for those of you who don't love fractions any more than we do πŸ˜„. Every week gets us a little closer.

Huge thanks to Fremont High School Mountain Biking Team - Utah and Weber High School Mountain Bike Team for two awesome volunteer sessions β€” over 60 volunteers combined and more than 120 hours of help on the trail. You all made a real difference out there. Thank you!

We trimmed TMF and Lower Mules Ear at North Fork . We also got Pioneer East cleaned up and race-ready for the Eden Epic Utah Mountain Bike Race this weekend. Good luck to everyone racing β€” we'll see you out there!

Have a great weekend,
The EVT Crew

Big News about the Pineview Loop Pathway!

You know we love our dirt trails, but our mission has always been bigger than that β€” connecting ALL users to trails.

We're thrilled to announce that Eden Valley Trails has been awarded a Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant for the Pineview Loop Pathway! This funding will let us:

πŸŒ‰ Complete the engineering for a permanent bridge at Winters Grove, which washed out in the 2024 flood

πŸ—ΊοΈ Study the feasibility and costs of completing the full loop around Pineview Reservoir

Nine miles are already done. This grant is a huge step toward finishing the rest β€” and after 15+ years of dreaming about a complete loop, we couldn't be more excited to start moving forward.

Big thanks to Weber County , Ogden Valley City, and The Town of Huntsville Utah for their matching support, and to the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation for believing in this project.

Stay tuned β€” the loop is coming. πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Happy 4th of July weekend, everyone! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

It's been a busy one out here. The crew gave Traildemic a much-needed haircut this week β€” and wow, did it need it. You can actually see the trail again.

The new trail, at North Fork, is officially 9/50ths complete. Is that a weird way to say 18%? Yes. Are we counting anyway? Also yes.

Big thanks to the North Davis Composite Racing Mtn Bike Team for showing up and helping us cut roots β€” hands down my least favorite job, and they crushed it. It's always great when the next generation of riders puts in dirt time on the trails they ride.

Get out there this weekend and enjoy some trails. I know I will. 🚡

Sometimes it's the little things that make trail building worth it πŸŒ²β€” cool temps, that first look at new trail in the morning, perfect and raked just right ✨, or cookies dropped off by a grateful trail user πŸͺ. Thanks, Julie!

Hope you all had a great day too β˜€οΈ
