As such, stateme

nts in online public spaces are similar to speeches on the town square. However, EPLN recognizes online public spaces are unique and evolving and that there is a need to educate the general public regarding the nature of journalism activities relative to online spaces. Therefore, EPLN journalists seek a high certainty of verified online identity, and to reach out to inform participants in these online spaces as to the nature of the journalism involving their online statements. Moreover, wherever possible, EPLN seeks to to ensure participants in online public statements may provide additional context and clarification about their statements and activities online.
