Ana is the math teacher at the Escuela de Aguacayo whose passion for mathematics fuels her mission to inspire students to keep studying, dreaming, and pushing past the barriers that often prevent them from continuing their studies after 9th grade.

In every classroom, a teacher does more than teach; they inspire, guide, and nurture the next generation. In rural communities, their dedication often goes above and beyond, shaping futures with limited resources but limitless passion.
There are six teachers at the Aguacayo School for about 150 students, preschool through 9th grade. The CALA Foundation depends on monthly contributions to provide basic supplies and learning tools such as pencils, markers, notebooks, flashcards, and books. We're excited to introduce you to each of the teachers, to tell their stories, and invite you to support their classroom directly for as little as $10/month. We've set a goal to have each teacher's classroom sponsored this month. We believe Ben Franklin had it right when he said, "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."

School Spotlight! The Argentina school is the second school CALA began sponsoring in early 2025. The rural school sits on top of a mountain overlooking El Salvador's central coast. In June, the CALA team arrived to meet with the principal and teachers to evaluate the needs, and the needs are great. Serving nearly 250 students from all over the mountain region, they are in desperate need of sanitary bathrooms which includes the installation of a septic system. We estimate this project to be one a BIG one, so we're spreading the word and aiming to start this labor of love by the end of this year! Every contribution no matter how big or how small gets us one step closer to our goal!

¡Escuela destacada! La escuela Argentina es la segunda que CALA comenzó a patrocinar a principios de 2025. Esta escuela rural se encuentra en la cima de una montaña con vistas a la costa central de El Salvador. En junio, el equipo de CALA llegó para reunirse con el director y los maestros para evaluar las necesidades, que son enormes. Atienden a casi 250 estudiantes de toda la región montañosa y necesitan urgentemente baños sanitarios, lo que incluye la instalación de un sistema séptico. Estimamos que este proyecto costará alrededor de por lo que estamos difundiendo el mensaje y aspiramos a comenzar esta labor con tanto cariño para finales de este año. ¡Cada contribución, por grande o pequeña que sea, nos acerca un paso más a nuestra meta!

School Spotlight! Aguacayo, our first sponsored school, is located on the central coast of El Salvador. The school serves around 130 students K-9th grade with 6 teachers. Many of the students walk down muddy mountain and jungle roads for hours each day to attend school. Since sponsoring Aguacayo, your donations have helped replace a tattered and leaking roof, replace dangerous kitchen equipment, and create a safe area for younger children to play. Every donation is tax-deductible (receipt provided!) and goes directly to these projects. We believe that children of all ages deserve a safe place to learn and play!

¡Escuela Destacada! Aguacayo, nuestra primera escuela patrocinada, se encuentra en la costa central de El Salvador. La escuela atiende a unos 130 estudiantes de kínder a noveno grado con 6 maestros. Muchos de los estudiantes caminan por caminos fangosos de montaña y selva durante horas cada día para asistir a la escuela. Desde que patrocinan Aguacayo, sus donaciones han ayudado a reemplazar un techo deteriorado y con goteras, reemplazar equipos de cocina peligrosos y crear un área segura para que los niños pequeños jueguen. Cada donación es deducible de impuestos (¡se incluye el recibo!) y se destina directamente a estos proyectos. ¡Creemos que los niños de todas las edades merecen un lugar seguro para aprender y jugar!

Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of leaders in Central and Latin America by broadening access to transformative opportunities, fostering innovation, and educational excellence. Como somos nuevos, ¡quisimos presentarnos! La Fundación CALA se constituyó como una organización 501(c)(3) en febrero de 2025 y hemos estado muy ocupados. Nuestra misión es formar a la próxima generación de líderes en Centroamérica y Latinoamérica, ampliando el acceso a oportunidades transformadoras, fomentando la innovación y la excelencia educativa.
