These newscasters show how tragic, numbing and life-altering just 1 su***de can be for those left to make sense of it. When describing their feelings in the loss of their friend & co-worker, their raw translucency speaks volumes to the aftermath of most all su***des. We're wishing peace for Jessica's children, husband, family and friends. 💖

If you or a loved one is feeling distressed, call the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline. The crisis center provides free and confidential emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255, or text 741-741.

Last night we were informed of the heartbreaking news that our friend and colleague, meteorologist Jessica Starr took her life.

One of the most common, and no doubt most frustrating misconceptions is that mental illness is somehow a choice or a lack of willpower. Read on to see how a comic artist meshes preconceived notions between physical diseases and mental illnesses.

One in four of us will have a battle with mental illness at some point in our lives. In this past week alone, one in six adults have had a mental health pr

"We at the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, have committed to reducing the annual su***de rate 20% by 2025. The rate has gone up in recent years and it's time we put an end to the madness and the sadness." -AFSP CEO, Robert Gebbia
Become a part of the movement. You can help! Here's how:
1. Make it a point to say "died by su***de" or "took his or her life" instead of using the terms "off-ed", "killed him/herself" or "committed su***de". End the derogatory verbiage which makes this death even that more taboo.
2. Reach out to someone, anyone, if you're having "down" feelings for extended periods of time or if you're thinking about su***de more often. You are not alone.
3. If you think someone may be suffering from anxiety, depression or any number of neurological diseases, ask them about it. A simple, "how are you feeling?" goes a long way for someone fighting any mental battle.
4. Your donations over the years to the AFSP on Danny's Stars behalf allow us to make this walk a reality and so much more. All proceeds fund research for su***de prevention, they create & distribute education programs, advocate for public policy and the funds also help support survivors of su***de loss.
5. If you're with us, let us know. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for watching our Danny's Stars 2015 Out of the Darkness video. (Pswd easily PM'd) Shine On!
