FRWA was out at Fry's Run Park Friday with Wildlands Conservancy's Stream Team. We have planted about 350 trees there over the years. The older ones don't reqire too much maintenace, but as you can see we had to machete our way in to some of the smaller ones. We cleared some invasives while there. Japanese knotweed, Japanese hops, mugwort, garlic mustard, multi flora rose. Take a walk down sometime. It's a nice place to sit on a hot day.

Happy Pennsylvania!

PA is home to diverse native plants, trees, insects, fish, birds, and mammals that originated thousands of years ago and thrive in mutual dependence. This native ecosystem provides us with natural resources that benefit our lives by enabling agricultural food production, recreation, fisheries, timber, and more.

By planting native species in our gardens and yards, we create vital food and shelter for native wildlife and pollinators critical to our food supply.

Fry's Run Watershed Association visited the Williams township elementary school on Tuesday and met with the fourth grade class. They were a great group of listeners as we talked about how watersheds work and how all of us and all the animals depend on clean water. Thanks to all who helped make it happen.

Fry's Run Watershed Association welcomes May at the Waldorf school. Our members Don and Mary helped students and visitors make cyanotypes to take home. And we gave away native wildflower seed packs for all to enjoy. It is a great event every year!

We had a great day planting live stakes on the banks of Fry's Run Saturday. The 130 trees we planted will put down roots that will help protect the stream bank from erosion. Good weather and a great group of volunteers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM FRWA! This cold winter means we're all using salt for safety but it's important to wisely use those deicers. Using more than you need will mean more salt finding its way to the streams and groundwater and eventually your well.

But enjoy the snow for the insulation it provides for plant roots. The gradual melting of the snow allows water to infiltrate the soil and replenish our aquifer for the drier months coming up.

We're having our first monthly meeting of 2026 on Tuesday January 6th at the township community building at 7pm. Come and join us!
