To all grass runway operators:
It seems that it is Badger time again. I have noticed a spike in badger holes on the grass areas of 57C in recent weeks. These are 8-10 inches in diameter and very in depth from a few inches to more than 4 feet (YES ,4 Feet!!).

PLEASE watch for holes appearing overnight. Be extra vigilant in scanning the runway as you taxi and maneuver on 18/36 and the areas out side the runway markers and the turnaround sections at each end. There are also many new holes in the”infield “
grass at the West end of Runway 26. ( both sides of the runway).

The Badgers are hunting the Chipmunk/ ground squirrels and they can displace a huge amount of dirt and leave a hole which could take out a tail wheel and many nose wheels!! If you see a hole, Note its location and call or email me or Walter and I will get it filled ASAP.

Below are photos of a hole on the runway taken today. This one has no extra "dirt mound” built up and I had to be onto of it before it came into view. So , EYES UP on the grass operations.

Airport Sale

Just a quick update:
The Village of East Troy has tabled the idea of selling the airport. Even so, we hired a lawyer to write a letter requesting documentation regarding discussions from the Village. We are waiting for them to respond. When we receive said documents, we will call a general meeting for further discussion.
Stay tuned.

Friends of East Troy Airport

September 29, 2020

Greetings fellow hangar owners & Aviators:

On Thursday, September 24, 2020 there was a meeting of FETA (Friends of East Troy Airport) to discuss the recent information presented to several members that the Village of East Troy has engaged Anderson Commercial Real Estate group to examine selling the airport property. The information we have is the listing includes lease terms, aerial photos, and other vital information.
In the interest of protecting the interests of the hangar owners & other interested aviators, a motion was made and approved to immediately allocate $2,000.00 of FETA funds to seek legal advice on the recent actions of the Village administration.
As information develops we will attempt to keep you informed.

Please show your support of FETA and the Airport Advisory Committee by planning to attend the next important meeting on Monday, October 12th, 2020 – 7pm – at the FBO.

Blue Skies,
Friends of East Troy Airport

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow Saturday 8/10/19 is our annual FETA Pancake Breakfast which is also part of East Troy’s Planes Trains & Automobiles celebration.
We’re looking forward to seeing you here.
I just watched every local tv channels’ weather forecast and they all agree that Saturday morning will be a great time to fly. And what better reason is there to fly into 57C for our famous Pancake Breakfast that includes strawberries & whip cream with your pancakes.

Hi all-
The Friends of East Troy Airport is looking for a non-flying fuselage (or reasonable facimile) to put on a trailer as a float for the East Troy parade scheduled for Sunday July 7th. It wouldn't even have to be an airplane fuselage. Any flying platform readily recognized by our audience would probably work. As we are working to garner public support/awareness of our airport, it's important to have an eye-catching float in the parade, please consider helping us out on this!
We are open to your suggestions and comments. Let us know what you're thinking.

Thanks-
Mike Felske
