There is a new case report from Penn State researchers on a mother and 2 children with POTS/dysautonomia and NOD2 genetic variants associated with Yao syndrome. The children had also been diagnosed with EDS and MCAS. You can read the case report at https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352512626003334

Yao syndrome is an autoinflamatory disorder associated with NOD2 genetic variants. But importantly, the genetic finding alone is not enough to diagnose the disease.

We are seeing a small but growing number of patients being diagnosed with Yao syndrome on our dysautonomia support groups as awareness of the diagnosis is growing.

To learn more about Yao syndrome, you can check out this comprehensive overview published by Dr. Yao and colleagues: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11449693/

And this paper which clearly lays out the diagnostic criteria for Yao syndrome:

Don't miss the 11th Annual Race to Beat POTS this Sunday in West Chester, PA! Attend in person or donate online to support the cause. All funds raised support Dysautonomia International's POTS research, education, and advocacy programs.

The Race to Beat POTS has already raised over $47,000 this year. We'd love to help the organizers (volunteer POTS patients and caregivers who do an amazing job organizing this event very year!) smash their goal and raise $55,000 by the end of the weekend!

Walking, running, or wheelchair rolling the race is completely optional and many families join us for a relaxing day in the park, connecting with the community and enjoying live music by Beg, Borrow and Steel.

Register, donate, or learn more at racetobeatpots.org
