A picture worth a thousand words: a class of four-year-olds learning English and colors. Teaching materials are created by their teachers. The cloth on the wall tracks children's height and weight through the school year. The kids are attentive and will clap for their friend. Most wear uniforms but there's no issue if don't. They are healthy, well fed, and nice kids all around who are eager to learn. helpkidsindia.org where a little help from us goes a long, long way.

A healthy disregard for staying in the lines: little kids need lots of opportunity to explore and create what they find meaningful, or, they may just really like to scribble. helpkidsindia.org, giving growing kids lots of room to grow.

A Lifetime Achievement Award for Hilda: Hilda Isaac is the managing director of our partner in India, the Betsy Elizabeth Trust (BET). Hilda's daughter, Dr. Betsy Isaac, sent this dispatch about her amma's award:

"Amma received the “Tamil Nadu Achievers Award 2026” for “Best Social Service” in recognition of her exceptional contribution and lifelong dedication toward serving poor and underprivileged communities. The award especially honored her work in child care, health care, women’s growth and empowerment, educational support, and career guidance for young people.

"For many years, Amma has devoted her life to uplifting children and families through compassion, education, counseling, and social service. Seeing her receive this recognition was a very emotional and joyful moment for all of us because it reflected the love and hard work she has poured into the lives of so many people over the years."

Hilda founded BET in 1998 alongside the founding of the first of BET's preschool. Since then, BET has added four more schools, three small farms, three health centers, and a community center called The Lighthouse. BET's major funders are HKI, Asha (Seattle Chapter), and the International School of Geneva in Switzerland.

The health of our preschool children is closely monitored by the school nurse. Monthly height and weight measurements are recorded. Parents of children flagged for nutritional support are given additional dietary guidance. When needed, children receive supplementary vitamins. helpkidsindia.org, keeping kids healthy for now and for their futures.
