🐾 Frontline Dog Safety Brief: Heat Safety ☀️
Hot dogs aren’t just at cookouts. As summer temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat-related injuries for our companions. Whether your dog is a family pet, active companion, or working service dog, overheating can happen faster than many people realize.
A simple safety check: if the pavement is too hot for the back of your hand for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for paws. Sidewalks, asphalt, and parking lots can reach dangerous temperatures quickly—even when the air temperature doesn’t seem extreme.
Know the early warning signs of overheating:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Heavy drooling
🐾 Slowing down or refusing activity
🐾 Confusion or disorientation
🐾 Weakness or lethargy
Working dogs are often driven to keep going even when they’re uncomfortable, making it even more important for handlers to recognize the signs before a situation becomes an emergency. Water breaks, shade, and rest are not optional—they’re part of keeping your companion healthy and mission ready.
Protect your companion. Know the signs.
