A young, unknown male came by to check out the nest. With two little ones inside, protective momma wasn’t having it.

A bit of gentle help from dad and the second little falcon is out of his egg.

This newborn falcon is just hours out of his egg. He can't stand up yet, his eyes aren't open yet, and his mom is right there with food and encouragement. Kestrel have an average of just under 5 eggs per clutch. This pair already raised an above-average six little ones just a few months ago. Now they are at it again with this unusual second clutch in a season. It's hot out there, quite possibly the hottest summer on record and they are getting through it. Hope they do well, it will be a struggle.

Check out this sudden and insane wind that scared mom off her eggs!

Little one came home for a visit. She was banded as a nestling almost two months ago. Good to see she is doing well. Momma is on two eggs of her second clutch.
