Wilderness in the City

Wilderness in the City Advocating for Lebanon Hills Regional Park and the preservation of urban natural spaces. 🌿

Wilderness in the City is dedicated to preserving urban natural areas for future generations through natural resource stewardship, community outreach, and advocacy. Our current focus centers on Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Dakota County. We support preserving the natural qualities, wilderness character and sense of place that are the public's intrinsic value of this park. As established in the f

ramework and guidelines of the park's past master plans, we support a vision which:

1. Prioritizes natural resource stewardship and preservation of wildlife habitat.

2. Supports minimal development – only that which is necessary for nature based recreation.

3. Builds community based partnerships with volunteer groups and outdoor organizations.

4. Promotes the park as a unique destination with programming to support a natural park. Wilderness in the City is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Eagan, Minnesota.

Dakota County is seeking volunteers to be a part of the Wetland Health Evaluation Program (WHEP). As part of a community-based team, volunteers will evaluate the health of wetlands by collecting data on various plants and small water creatures like beetles, bugs and snails. No background experience is necessary, and all training and equipment is provided.
