Thank you to AJ Reisetter for sharing our mission with your viewers and helping others understand why this means so much to us.

Seeing the photos of these families enjoying the game, smiling, laughing, and simply being together, if only for a few hours forgetting about everything that brought them there, is incredibly moving.

For a little while, they weren’t thinking about hospital rooms, treatments, appointments, or cancer.

They were just families making memories together.

Since 2024, we have provided more than 1,600 tickets to pediatric cancer-fighting patients and their families, giving them the chance to experience something that most of us may take for granted.

The Iowa Wave.

But to these families, that wave is so much more than just a wave.

Some families are waving in the middle of the fight, their child still battling, still receiving treatment, still watching out of the hospital window from a room on Level 11.

Some are waving in celebration, because their child rang the bell and finished treatment.

And some are waving through tears.

Waving in memory of a child who should still be sitting beside them, watching the game, wearing black and gold.

Different stories.

Different battles.

Different reasons for being there.

But when they stand together and wave, they become part of something bigger than themselves.

That is what the Iowa Wave means to us.

It means hope for the families still fighting.

It means celebration for the families who have made it through.

And it means remembrance for the families whose children are no longer here to wave themselves.

This is why we wave.

Did you know that the Hawks To Go tailgate has a trailer for Pediatric Cancer Survivors to trace their hands and sign their names?

They have also raised over $420,000 for the hospital!?!

They are also hosting some of our families this weekend- so if you’re heading to Kinnick, look them up, stop by for a shot and check out their Hall of Champions!
