middle school first days hit different — new building, way more kids, and suddenly lunch feels like a whole social experiment. if your stomach's doing flips rn, that's not weird. that's just... a lot of new at once.

you don't need a friend group by 3rd period. you don't need to know where everything is. you just need to get through today.

One of our programs over the past year included information about . Today, we had an opportunity to participate at UT & TSU Extension-Dyer County with Dynamic Dyer County, TAG Team , and Prevention Alliance of Dyersburg & Dyer County.

🔴 Today, we did something small that means something big.
Our youth group hit up 5 spots around Dyer County today and dropped red sand into sidewalk cracks. Random? Kind of. But it's actually part of something called the Red Sand Project — and once you know what it stands for, you can't unsee it.

📍 Where we showed up today:
*Dyer County Health Department
*McIvers Grant Public Library
*UT-TSU Extension Office (with our friends from ABWA! 🤝)
*Newbern Police Department
*Saint Joseph's

Here's the deal: the sand in the cracks is a visual for people who literally "fall through the cracks" — kids and adults who get trafficked, exploited, and overlooked because nobody's paying attention. It's a reminder that trafficking isn't some far-away thing — it can happen in any community, including ours.
So today wasn't just an art project. It was us saying: we see you, we're paying attention, and we're not staying silent. 🧡

Our TAG Team members have been so busy the last week! We had so much fun at Dyer County Health Dept Back to School Bash, then we partied with Future City at their Back to School Bash, MK and Spencer helped with Red Sand Project in Lake County with Ms. Beth, and today we hung out with our friends at Saint Joseph’s and had a cool treat.

Day 3 of — the FINAL day 😭 bittersweet fr
started off watching Screenagers 📱🎬 and had a whole discussion after, ngl it kinda called us out (phone habits called into question, we felt that)
then found out we got RUNNER UP in the Scavenger Hunt 🥈🏃‍♀️ not first but we ate anyway, no shade to the winners 😤
packed up and headed back to West TN 🚗💨 tired but that "we did something real" kind of tired
3 days of learning, dancing, eating, and leveling up as leaders — this one's staying in the memory bank forever 🫶 see y'all next time

Day 2 of was UNMATCHED 🔥 we really said "learn AND vibe" and meant it
learned all about advocacy + Fit4Success, then Molly Kennedy came through with "Turning Why Me into Watch Out" and had us SHOOK 😭 real ones know that hit different
talked about what it actually means to be an Ambassador (no cap, kinda life changing), got hands on with the Red Sand Project ✨ pouring that red sand into the cracks to raise awareness — heavy but so important, ate (obviously), made bracelets + buttons bc we're crafty like that 🧵🔘, ran around doing a Scavenger Hunt 🏃‍♀️🔍 (competitive era activated), then Dr. Dunn (Commissioner of TN Dept of Health‼️) pulled up and spoke straight FACTS
ate AGAIN bc we stay eating, locked in during Regional Session to plan our next moves 📝 (West side got moves fr), and closed the night out at the Silent Disco 🎧💃 headphones on, vibes immaculate, no cap best part of the day
day 2 >>> can't wait to see what day 3 got in store 🙌
