Community Service Announcement

Tomorrow, Thursday May 21, from noon until 1 at Pioneer Union Church in Gold Run, we will have a variety of new, donated items available for free that are things we will not normally be stocking for our community resources. Several of our community donors have generously donated a wide variety of extra items such as new and cute household items, kitchen utensils and cute wall art to distribute. Along with these items, we will have some wet and dry cat food and a few partial bags of dog food available as well. We have also put together some children’s grab bags for them to chose. We wanted to have this in conjunction with people coming in to food pantry and the the Alta thrift store on Thursday to help minimize trips. This is on a first come first serve basis and we cannot hold items ahead of time. Please stop by and check it out!

Community Service Announcement.

Pioneer Union Church in Gold Run has been hard at work for the past few months to set up and get ready to open our Community Locker! The plan has been to be able to provide some basic necessities that will bless families in the community that need extra help. We will be stocking some basic needed seasonal clothing, and toiletries/hygiene items as well as some cleaning/household supplies and dog/cat food when available! Within the next few weeks we will be open on Thursdays after pantry in Alta from about 11-1. We wanted people to be able to visit both on the same day to minimize trips and gas. As we get closer to a firm opening day we will be adding another post!

BUT this coming Thursday, May 21, we will be having a special event at noon.
We have some amazing items that we won’t be keeping in the locker on a regular basis but have some wonderful, brand new household items that we will have available as well as some partial bags of dog food and plenty of wet cat food! There will be household items and just a variety of things that our suppliers have generously donated! So we wanted to share this week! This is on a first come, first serve basis and we will not be able to hold items.

Good morning everyone! Have some information I want to share, and please understand this is not to scare or panic anyone… meant strictly for information to help family, friends and community. As I’m sure everyone knows I work closely with food banks, suppliers and grocery stores. In watching the price increases and low supplies I have been asking a lot of questions and doing some major research.

Having taken in multiple factors, the bottom line is that with all of the uncertainties here and abroad, the consensus is that there is already a food and staple shortage that we as consumers are not yet seeing. What is already at stores and on shelves will be going very quickly as our ability to restock and at an affordable rate is within a month of very serious shortages.

I’m putting out a suggestion that if you have just a few extra dollars, I would recommend buying a few staples now, rice, beans, bottled water, toilet paper, canned fruit and meat. Staple foods and less expensive store brands are the first items to run low and the prices rise dramatically.

Again this is not meant to scare or panic anyone… just a helpful suggestion in the face of our economic uncertainties going forward!

Something to keep in mind please! If you are shopping at Mar-Val’s… they still have plastic bags available at checkout. Stores can use what they had left before the paper change. Please consider getting the plastic bags and donating them to the Alta food pantry! They work so much better and keep frozen foods away from dry staples! Thank you in advance!

So I think we are about set up for tomorrow’s home school giveaway! 10-12 at Pioneer Union Church in Gold Run. If you or someone you know home schools, these items will be available. First come, first serve! This is just a quick overview of what we have! Shicara Shaw and friends will be on hand to help! We hope to be able to do this for our school, our home schoolers and community events on an on going basis! Hope to see you all tomorrow!
