L'Arche North Carolina

L'Arche North Carolina An inclusive community for adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.

L'Arche (French for 'The Ark') makes explicit the dignity of every human being by building inclusive communities of faith and friendship where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together. Community members are transformed through relationships of mutuality, respect and companionship as they live, work, pray and play together. People with intellectual disabilities are at t

he heart of L'Arche. They are not clients, patients or recipients of services, but rather they are friends, teachers and companions. People without intellectual disabilities grow through their encounters in L'Arche. Through daily acts of care, trust and friendship, they develop into ambassadors of compassion and leaders of social change and the common good. L'Arche North Carolina exists to envision and establish a l'Arche community in our state, with a special focus on the Triangle area. We seek to build relationships with those in our community who desire alternative housing for adults with intellectual disabilities, who recognize the gifts of all people, particularly those on the margins of society and who want to journey with us as we journey towards becoming a l'Arche.

We’re taking the $2 for 2 Challenge — and we hope you’ll join us!

L’Arche North Carolina is working to purchase TWO more homes where adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities can share life, build friendships, and experience a true sense of belonging.

We’re asking our friends to give just $2 (or more!) to help make these two homes possible — and then share the challenge with two friends.

And right now, every gift goes even further: donations are being MATCHED dollar for dollar, up to $50,000, through August 16!

Give $2. Invite 2 friends. Help make 2 homes possible.

Give through Venmo:
Or online: https://givebutter.com/LNCforward

Every gift, no matter the size, helps L’Arche NC move one step closer to opening the doors to more people who deserve a place to call home and a community where they truly belong.

Thanks for joining us to help create more inclusive communities!

Last week, YOU helped raise over $1,000 through our $2 m for 2 Houses Challenge! 🎉 Thank you for showing that small acts of generosity can make a big impact.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Help us reach our goal of raising a million dollars to purchase two homes for adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities in Durham!

This week’s challenge comes from Kyla, a former L’Arche North Carolina Board member and current L’Arche USA staff member, who is sharing why these Friendship Houses matter.

Will you join her?

💜 Give $2 (or more!) today:
• Venmo:
• larchenc.org/give

Then, share Kyla’s video with TWO friends and invite them to give, too. Together, we can continue the legacy of the Friendship Houses and create lifelong homes where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are known, valued, and belong.

Thank you for being part of this movement. Every gift and every share helps bring us one step closer to welcoming more people home.

Today we celebrate the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a landmark piece of legislation that helped open doors to greater access, opportunity, and inclusion.

Yesterday, our L’Arche North Carolina community had a wonderful time celebrating Disability Pride at Duke Memorial UMC alongside so many friends, neighbors, and advocates. We are grateful for everyone who came together to honor the gifts, dignity, and leadership of people with disabilities.

At L’Arche, we know accessibility is essential, but our vision goes even further. We believe every person deserves not only access, but also belonging. Together, we’re helping build communities where people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities share life, friendship, and purpose.

Happy ADA Anniversary! Here’s to continuing the work of creating communities where everyone is welcomed, valued, and can flourish. 💙♿️
